Our Story
Introduction
We are a Scottish company that designs, manufactures, and installs a patented secondary glazing solution. The system is tailored specifically for heritage and conservation properties with sash windows. This focus is vital because conventional secondary glazing products rarely meet the unique requirements of historic buildings.
Family
The company is owned by Mike and Jackie Chaplin, who live in a Fife village with their two sons and two black Labradors. Over the years, they have lived in a wide variety of traditional Scottish homes. From tenement flats in Edinburgh and Glasgow to country houses in the Borders and Fife. In every property, they faced the same recurring challenge: cold and draughty sash windows that made winters uncomfortable and heating costs unmanageable!
Secondary Glazing
Eventually, when the family moved into their current home—a 300-year-old listed property—the problem became even more pressing. They began searching for secondary glazing solutions, yet the available options quickly proved disappointing. Many products were unsuitable for listed buildings, and several would have prevented the use of the traditional shutters. Since shutters were both functional and historically significant, that compromise was not one we wanted to make.
The CSG Solution
At this turning point, Mike drew on his professional experience. He already manages Click Netherfield Ltd, a successful international company that holds a Royal Warrant. His firm designs, manufactures, and installs museum showcases all around the world. Applying over 35 years of design creativity and manufacturing knowledge, Mike developed an innovative secondary glazing system that solved the problem while preserving the integrity of historic features.
